Koger Variety is a most amazing little variety store on the square in Holton. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a panoply of things from today and yesterday in one place. If they don’t have it, you don’t need it. I could spend hours in there, just discovering. Last Saturday, I found a box of cards with Life Magazine photography for $2. I can’t wait to send someone a thank you note! There were puzzles and games (turn off the TV for one night), office supplies, cake decorating paraphernalia, pillow cases for embroidering, Burt’s Bees skin care products and Halloween decorations galore.
You can also rent a tux, buy a hostess gift or a CD.
The old fashioned candy counter and soda fountain are like the cherry on top of the best sundae ever. Just go!

This makes me want to drive to Holton! I love that in many places like this in Kansas no matter when you show up, you’re likely to either be helped by the owner of one his/her relatives. It makes the experience that much more fun!
OH MY GOSH! I am so happy to see this written about our small town of Holton. There is soooo much to see here! I am from Holton and still shop on the square frequently…just ask my hubby, John. I was born and raised here..went off to college…came back and raised my son in this wonderful setting. I even had a shop here, Grapevine, but couldn’t beat the heat of the economy/gas prices, etc…at least that is what I think happened? Don’t miss the opportunity or chance to drive to Holton to check it out. It’s very much worth the drive! It’s unbelievable how many great places there are to eat as well. We now own Trails Cafe and serve the most awesome broasted chicken, grilled steaks, seafood, and italian for a small town. Please come check us out. It’s worth it! It’s a great place to bring your whole family! Don’t forget to take the time to scour the Holton Town Square. WOW! Great stuff for a little teeny tiny place. We have a wonderful quilt shop, home decor store (expressions), ladies and children’s clothing boutique (Jan’s Ladies Apparel & Little Bits”), great cinnamon rolls at S&A Downtown Cafe. Sherri, the owner, is a classmate of mine. Antiques of Holton, Dan & Shelly, are also great friends…please visit them! I see a “for sale” sign in their window..darn it, anyway! Every small town deserves your visit! They really have a difficult time surviving without you! VISIT HOLTON SOON! Again, you won’t be disappointed! We’re very proud of everything we have in Holton…and we’re State Champs in 4A Football for 2003 and 2005. That says alot for our coach and school system. OK…and the Farmers Market..oh! my gosh! good stuff. It seems to be growing..get it the Farmers Market is growing..hee hee! OK…anyway, Can you tell that I love Holton! You will too! Just visit…OH! Hotel Josephine is also great! I know I have left out something so please just call the Chamber of Commerce at 785-364-3963 to get more details and more info on Holton. Katie will be happy to assist you in any area that I have missed!
